BRG&FA 20th Annual Banquet – Highlights

The 20th annual Awards Banquet of the Brokenhead River Game and Fish Association was held on February 11, 2017 with great success. Around 260 guests attended the deliciously catered event to celebrate the achievements of members in 2016. Adult and youth awards for big game, angling and photography were announced (the full list will be posted on our website). The Brag Board featured horns of all sizes (including a Manitoba record book moose) and photos to share member’s experiences with the entire BRGFA family.

As the main fundraiser for the club, major prizes included a 24 gun fire proof safe, meat processing start-up package, ice fishing set up, and rustic furniture. As always, the card draw was a popular fundraiser that helped lucky winners add yet another item to their collection. Over 25 smaller draws were taken home by lucky winners, and a dozen silent auction prizes were awarded. Both the drive-in and fly-in fishing trips involved vigorous bidding during the live auction. All proceeds from the 2017 Bucks Draw will be dedicated to fund the late winter deer feeding program in locations throughout the RM of Brokenhead.

Established in 1996, the BRGFA is a small club of around 150 members.  The club supports conservation, education, safety and outdoors activities related to local natural resources. We host several programs over the year (see our calendar), and can arrange hunter safety and firearms licensing training classes. Members can also access our national class shooting range, and are invited to our monthly meetings held the first Wednesday of the month between September and May.

The BRGFA thanks all of its sponsors and volunteers that make this event a success every year.
